The very first EGP tournament, first stage of the inaugural EGP season was held in Milan on December 7th and 8th 1985.
The 1985 Milan Open was also the first stage of the first Italian Grand Prix season and was held at the Plasmon auditorium.
Jean-François Puget of France won the Milan Open defeating Luigi Puzzo in the finals in two straight games, taking an early lead in the EGP.
