The 2024 Asia Pacific Othello Championship, sponsored by World Othello Federation and Megahouse, has finally concluded. Congratulation to Seiya Kurita who won the championship in a thrilling 2 games to 1 against Shiki Shimomura, who was another top player from Japan. This was a very memorable experience for us as it has almost been 30 years since Australia ran its previous international tournament in 1995. Many thanks to the international players from Japan, China, Singapore and Mongolia travelling to "down under".

Moreover, a big thanks to Nicole, Ken, Pinpin, Chloe and Denise that formed a formidable volunteering team to facilitate the event. Another big thank goes to the translation team which includes Calvin and Rianah and also Takeshi Murakami san who helped breaking the language barrier between us and the overseas players.

Special acknowledgement to Dmitriy Atamanov, the founder of flipthedisc.com, for providing important technical support to run the tournament and broadcast the games worldwide. We knew you didn't sleep much during the tournament due to time differences...sorry

Last but not the least, our sincere thanks go to our Australian Othello Federation members from every state to participate in the 2 days tournament. Especially George Ortiz who resides in Italy at the moment, and Hayden Goodman that both of them worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this happen.

On a personal note, my very last shout-out goes to my right-hand man Matt Vinar, that whenever I needed help or I was in trouble, I simply yelled out 'Matt' then he would turn up immediately. He was also very patient with me and his commitment to this tournament was incommensurable.

Hope to see you all soon, we believe it shouldn't take another 30 years for another international tournament to take place in Australia.

Go Aussies!
