The WOF Flag Player system

§ 1. The WOF Flag Player system

The WOF Flag Player system exists so that Othello enthusiasts from countries where the opportunity to participate in national and international tournaments is restricted for political, religious or other reasons beyond the enthusiast's control.

Othello players from all over the world are eligible to apply to become a WOF Flag player.

The WOF Fair Play team will process all applications to play as a WOF Flag player received.

Only private individuals have the right to apply for WOF Flag Player status. Countries and organizations cannot apply to become a WOF Flag Player.

Although a time period for the status will be designated by the WOF Fair Play team, the WOF Fair Play team reserves the right to revoke WOF Flag Player status at any time and for any reason.

Any player granted WOF Flag player status does NOT play for any country or confederation. The player plays only as an individual and forfeits belonging to any national team.

§ 2. Application.

A notification to receive an application to become a WOF Flag Player must be sent to the WOF Office, office@worldothello.org.

Players who want to apply will have an application document sent to them. Once the player has filled in and sent the application, a committee from the WOF Fair Play team will review it. If the committee decides to grant the application, the player will be sent a contract to sign.

Once both the player and the WOF Fair Play Team have signed the contract, the stipulated time period applies.

§ 3. Assessment.

The WOF fair Play Team considers the player's application based on the following considerations: (1) The player is unable to participate in WOF Othello activities through his country's federation/organization. (2) The player has a good ongoing behaviour record in line with the WOF code of honor mentioned in the World Othello association's statutes. (3) The player accepts WOF rules and WOF Fair Team rules for WOF Flag Players.

Where WOF Flag player status is granted, the player will be allocated to one WOF Confederation decided by the WOF Fair Play Team.
One month before the expiration of the period designated for WOF Flag player status, the player may apply again for a renewal.

§ 4. Rights

A player who has WOF Flag Status has the right to participate in all WOF sanctioned tournaments in line with the confederation association as indicated in the WOF Flag player agreement.
A WOF Flag Status player has the right to participate in the World Othello Championship if he qualifies.
The WOF Fair Play Team reserves the final decision on qualification routes and final approval for the World Othello Championships.

§ 5.WOF Ratings.

A player who has WOF Flag Player status will, during the period of the agreement, play under the "country" of "WOF" only and will not be able to represent any nation. The WOF flag will be used next to the player's name where ever relevant.

§ 6. Penalties

If a player who goes under the WOF Flag Player status acts in a way so that the WOF Fair Play Team decides to cancel the status for the player, then the player may also possibly receive other punishments such as banning and more. If this happens, the matter will be raised to the WOF Judge Committee.
