European Grand Prix 1996

The Italian stage of the 1996 EGP was held in Florence for the first time.

David Shaman of the USA becomes the first EGP title winner with a "perfect score" (collecting the maximum number of available points, in this case 600).

It's worth noting that Graham Brightwell had also won 3 tournaments in 1992, but due to a peculiarity in the rules, did not collect the 200 points for his first win in Cambridge because the finals games were tied (1.5-1.5).
