Joanna William is a two-time Women's World Othello Champion winning the title in 2014 and 2019.

Joanna started playing Othello tournaments in 2009 in Singapore and very quickly became a very strong player. In 2013 she was invited to Tokyo to take part in the "Othello World Cup", a special event organised by Megahouse to celebrate 40 years of the Othello trademark.  Joanna won the OWC 2013 women's title "Queen of Othello" defeating the 2009 women's world champion Mei Urashima in the final.Two months later Joanna returned to Japan to participate in the prestigious Meijin-sen ("Masters tournament") and won the women's final defeating the first women's world champion Hisako Kinoshita in the final.  This was the first time (and so far only time) that a non-Japanese player won a Meijin title in any category.

In 2014 Joanna went to Thailand with the Australian team to participate in her very first WOC in Bangkok and finished in 8th place overall. Joanna went on to win the women's final against Zhen Dong of China.  Five years later she won her second women's world title at the 2019 WOC in Tokyo, defeating Zhen Dong again in the final.
